Careers Guidance
Sixth Form students will also benefit from the advice and support of our qualified and experienced full time, Careers, Transition and University Advisors, Mrs Amanda Jewell and Miss Lara Freij.
Amanda Jewell
Amanda is a true expert in her field and has over 20 years of experience working with students in Dubai, helping them to find the right pathways.
Preparation for applying to Higher Education will take many forms and every experience you have, every opportunity you take and every skill you develop during your time at school and beyond, will contribute towards your success in applying to university and employment.
It can be difficult choosing a suitable degree course, a university and even a country to study in, but we will be there to support and guide you through the process. Some universities will have very complex application systems and others will be relatively straight forward, but students will need to take responsibility for researching specific entry requirements, application deadlines, registering for admission tests, preparing to write their Personal Statement, Common App essay or letter of motivation and ensuring they have all the required documentation etc.
With the World of Work and Higher Education changing so rapidly, I believe it is essential to always put the student at the heart of my guidance, discussing suitable and relevant opportunities and inspiring them to find their best fit. My passion is supporting students through the university application process, guiding them with the research required to find the course, topic of study and career path that suits their skills, abilities, interests and personality, amongst the exciting and diverse opportunities available to them.
This can feel very overwhelming at first, but students can book appointments to discuss any aspect of their transition from school to university/employment/apprenticeships with me in the Careers Office. The amazing 6th Form Team will support you to ensure that you make the right decisions for you and your future.
I look forward to working alongside you in the Sixth Form.

Navigating the path towards higher education and future career prospects can be exciting and scary at the same time. We, in the careers department, understand the nerves that come with it, and that is exactly where we come in. We're here to provide assistance and direction, ensuring students navigate this process smoothly. It's about empowering students to discover themselves, their strengths, and skills, ultimately preparing them for the steps beyond high school.
For over seven years, I've had the privilege of serving as a dedicated career counselor, assisting students in understanding university applications, career choices, and skill development. Seeing my students become business owners, doctors, therapists, financial analysts, managers, and countless other professions makes me incredibly happy and playing a role in their early stages of this journey is what fuels my passion for my career.
In a world where technological advancements are reshaping industries and creating new career opportunities, it's essential for students to not just adapt but thrive. A 2018 report showed that 85 percent of the jobs today's students will do in 2030 don't even exist yet. This is why it is important to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed in today's ever-evolving landscape.
From entry requirements, university applications, and choosing universities, to helping students develop essential skills such as networking, resume building, and interview preparation, I'm here to provide comprehensive support at every step of the journey.
Together with our dedicated Sixth Form Team, we foster a community of support and encouragement, where every student is empowered to discover their passions, explore new horizons, and ultimately, realize their full potential.
