Thomas Moriarty
Assistant Principal - Key Stage 5
Dear Parents,
I am incredibly proud to be leading such a successful and unique Sixth Form at Gems Wellington Academy - Al khail. This summer we celebrated our first outstanding set of A Level results marking off a year of excellent personal and academic achievements for our students.
I started my role as Head of Sixth Form in September 2020 and have been the University and Careers Adviser since 2019. Prior to that I served as an assistant Head of Year and Second in charge of Department in the UK, where I spent my first 5 years of teaching. I bring experience of both academic and pastoral leadership to my new role as Head of Sixth Form.
Students are at the heart of everything I do as a practitioner and I am extremely passionate about providing the best possible opportunities for each and every student. I will strive to provide a rich learning environment in our Sixth Form that provides a welcoming and secure place for students to develop their curiosity and desire to learn.
Outside of school I am a keen sportsman and played Gaelic Football at a very high standard. I represented London GAA from 2008 – 2011, notably playing in front of 30,000 spectators at Croke Park. My wife and I both enjoy to travel and like to spend our holidays visiting new countries.
I am looking forward to being of the Senior Leadership Team at the Academy and will continue to ensure all students are fully supported and guided through their Post-16 provision.
